WAXBOX IN THE GREEN ON A WHITE CARPET OUT OF THE BLUE
Art foundry Van Geert works according to the principle of the Cire perdue a technique for casting metal objects, for example in bronze or silver. Cire perdue literally means: lost wax.
With this preview, Van Geert and Peter Weidenbaum gives visitors the opportunity to see a number of works at the source. In confrontation with this environment, the bronze studio, away from the white exhibition space, the works are stripped of their traditional context. And one can view them purely sans. The preview shows a number of recent works that Weidenbaum realized in the bronze foundry, including a full-size crashed car in bronze.
"This damaged vehicle, transformed by the artist into a sculptural, aesthetic form, is rich in references to possible meanings for each individual in particular and for today's compelling social context in general." Flor Bex.
Afterwards, the displayed works will find their way to various clients, including the Province of Flemish Brabant and private collections.
