Geert: Satie is another step further in your current series. There is indeed the scent of an old book in it, now that I read the story it is even more impressive, it contains a 'geistigkeit' that is hard to put into words, a kind of brittle atmosphere that can be broken at any moment. Somehow it seems as if you are looking at a chessboard in which the individual pieces confront each other that threaten to turn the moment. I also think of some works by Hammershoi in which the composition and the light coincide into an almost Buddhist zero point in which everything is in harmony.
